Water treatment can be divided into water purification, sewage treatment and industrial water treatment. Water purification is the removal of contaminants from untreated water to produce drinking water. Removed substance can be bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, minerals and man made chemical pollutants. Sewage treatment is the first treatment and includes separation of solids from liquids. Industrial water treatment is done to optimize the water for different industrial processes.
